Remember last week when I told you about my ‘new’ garbage find?  Well, check out what a little spray paint and some cushions can do!

Now since we’re on the topic of garbage finds, I figure that I may as well tell you about  this awesome mid-century modern teak chair frame that I found on the curb last summer.  I couldn’t believe that someone was getting rid of it.  After some new cushions, it’s the best seat in the house!

Okay, okay.  One last thing.  I promise!  Check this out.  I KNOW that it is in pretty rough condition, but with a little paint and new caning, or even an upholstered seat, I am going to have this chair in tip top shape.  I’m thinking of doing it in a really bright and vibrant colour – something like a marine blue possibly.

Doesn’t it have great detail?

Now before you think that I purposely go out looking for things to pick up off of the street, I swear that I don’t!  But would YOU pass them by?  If so,  I suggest that next time you see something curbside that seems to be in relatively good condition, just imagine what you could turn it in to with a little bit of elbow grease.  I swear that I won’t tell!  Happy scouring.

I recently came across Dabney Lee At Home - a great little online company that specializes in custom-made and “fabulous embellishments to inspire and dazzle your home and office.”  It was hard to pick just one item, but I think that my favourite is their square lucite tray!

They have so many great patterns and monograms to choose from.

Here are some of my favs:

Aren’t they all so great?

WILL & KATE - The Royal Wedding

I will admit that I am looking forward to seeing the dress, the kiss…and what the celebrities in attendance chose to wear!  And judging by the loads and loads of press leading up to the big event, I don’t think that I will have a problem catching a quick synopsis of the day after the fact.  In other words, this girl’s alarm won’t be set for any earlier than it needs to be!

Will you be watching?

Dear neighbour:

Thank you!  Whoever you are.  Thank you for choosing to throw out your in-great-condition-sans-the-cushions-outdoor-furniture-set today.  It’s going to look perfect on my balcony where I will be able to enjoy many more of these…

Dear readers:

Yes.  Yes, I did go garbage picking this afternoon.  And yes.  I’m darn proud of it!

Pictures to come!
